Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the pair.
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt prepared to express about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can now put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced spending more time together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the production, adding that he cannot recall "a single day without joy".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, stating: "Claiming that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
In a distinct piece, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Recently, a Los Angeles court official ruled to bar the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the LAPD.
A court order put a restriction on the cases to limit the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the active case.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the result of homicide, with a record citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
In the wake of the deaths, public personalities expressed varying reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, offering controversial statements that were widely condemned by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his perspective to the critics last week. Talking on his program, Rogan described the statements as "disappointing" and implied they revealed a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an aide could have acted when the decision to speak on the death was made.
