The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards were hosted recently, and with a remarkable show, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the biggest winner. This surprise role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive secured the coveted Game of the Year award, along with accolades for Superb Storytelling and Top Visual Design.
Adding to the developer's achievements, its talented cast also were honored with individual awards. Jennifer English received Outstanding Lead Performance for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Supporting Performance Award for his role as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive itself was honored as Top Studio. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its makers collected seven awards during the ceremony.
Other major winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which won Outstanding Audio and Top Console Title, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and Premier PC Title. It is important to note, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are voted on by the audience, with only four categories—Critics’ Choice, Breakthrough Award, Hall of Fame, and Streamer Selection—determined by experts.
