An investigation has found that approximately 90 aircraft journeys associated to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein reportedly arrived at and departed from British airfields, with some reportedly transporting British women who claim they were exploited by the convicted child sex offender.
The travel manifests were part of a trove of legal papers and files made public by the estate of Jeffrey Epstein that have been released over the past year. The analysis found 87 flights connected to Epstein ā featuring many that were not previously known ā arriving or departing from UK airports between the early 1990s and 2018.
Unnamed female passengers were documented among the individuals flying to and from the UK. Notably, 15 of these British airport journeys took place after Epsteinās 2008 conviction for soliciting sex from a minor.
āThis is āappallingā that there had never been a āthorough probe in the UKā into his activities in the country,ā stated US lawyers representing numerous Epstein survivors.
Testimony from one of the UK-based survivors aided the conviction of Epsteinās accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell of child sex-trafficking in the US in 2021. Yet, that survivor has not received any contact by police in the UK, as stated by her attorney based in Florida.
In a response, the London's Metropolitan Police indicated they had ānot received any new evidence that would support reopening the investigation.ā They noted, āIf new and relevant evidence be presented to us, encompassing any arising from the disclosure of material in the US, we will assess it.ā
A bill to make public all files held by the US government in regarding Epstein was approved by the US Congress last month. The Department of Justice has until 19 December to follow through. A vast number of papers are anticipated to be made public.
Additionally, a US judge ruled last week that the DOJ could make public investigative materials from a trafficking prosecution against Maxwell, Epsteinās long-term associate, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence over the charges.
